Aerial & Drone Imaging

FAA Part 107 licensed aerial perspectives.

Further down: how it works, service area and travel, which package to choose and the FAQ.

What it is

What is aerial and drone imaging?

Aerial and drone imaging is photography and video of a property shot from a remotely piloted aircraft. It shows what a camera on the ground cannot: the lot, the roofline, the pool, the waterfront, and the distance to the beach, the golf course, or town. Anyone flying a drone for paid work in the United States needs an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, and Higginbotham Media flies with a Part 107 certified pilot and insurance in place. A standalone session means about 30 minutes on site and about six edited aerial stills. Listing packages include about five, and video packages add 4K aerial footage when a flight is possible. Before each visit the pilot checks weather, wind, and FAA airspace rules, and has the final say on whether a flight is safe and legal. If it can't go ahead, the studio reschedules the aerials or adjusts the charge. Ask for a boundary overlay to show the parcel; it illustrates the lot and is not a survey.

Who it's for

Is aerials right for this listing?

Who books it

  • Listings where the lot, waterfront, pool, or roofline matters as much as the interior.
  • Vacant land and acreage that ground-level photography cannot describe.
  • Agents who want neighborhood context: the beach, the golf course, the marina, the distance to town.

What you receive

  • High-resolution aerial stills of the property and its surroundings, edited and color-corrected.
  • About six aerial photographs on the standalone package; about five when aerials are bundled into a listing package.
  • 4K aerial video clips when a video package is booked and a flight is possible.
  • Property-boundary overlays on request, drawn as an illustration rather than a survey.

How it works

From booking to delivery.

  1. Book

Book online from the pricing page: enter the property address first, choose a time the calendar can reach from the studio's previous shoot, and the request is confirmed by email within one business day.

  2. Prepare

Get the property ready before the visit: the checklist below covers what makes the biggest difference. Access details, gate and lockbox codes go on the booking form.

  3. The visit

A standalone aerial session takes about 30 minutes on site. The pilot checks airspace and weather for the address before the visit and flies from the property or an adjacent public spot.

  4. Editing and delivery

Edited files are delivered to a private online gallery within two business days. Where the booking form offers a rush option, it brings delivery to 24 hours or less for $75. Galleries stay open for the period stated at delivery, typically 30 days, so download and keep your own copies.

Before the shoot

How to get ready.

  • Clear counters, floors, and beds; put away personal items, cords, pet bowls, and trash cans.
  • Turn on every light, replace burnt-out bulbs, and open blinds and curtains so rooms photograph bright.
  • Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the front of the home, and close garage doors.
  • Tidy the yard and pool area: mow, blow off patios, uncover outdoor furniture, and stow hoses and toys.
  • Secure pets and, where possible, plan for the home to be empty while the shoot is under way.
  • Aerial photographs depend on safe flying weather and FAA airspace rules for the address; if a flight is not possible on the day, an alternative is arranged rather than skipped.

Travel fees

  • No travel fee within 85 road miles of the studio.
  • Beyond that, $1.50 per round-trip mile, calculated from the property address before you pick a time.
  • Properties more than 200 round-trip miles away are quoted individually.

Good to know

  • Flights are operated by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot with insurance in place.
  • Every flight depends on weather, wind, visibility, and FAA airspace rules for the address, and the remote pilot has the final say on whether it is safe and legal. When a flight is not possible, the aerials are rescheduled or the charge is adjusted.
  • Booking aerials does not guarantee a flight at a specific place and time; controlled airspace and temporary flight restrictions apply to parts of the service area.
  • Canceling less than 12 hours before the start time, or a visit that cannot go ahead because the property is inaccessible or not ready, carries a $75 fee.
  • Once the invoice is paid you hold a non-exclusive license to market that specific property with the media: MLS, brokerage and portal listings, social media, email, and print. The license does not move to a new agent or brokerage with the listing, and builders, designers, or vacation-rental operators need their own.
